Summer couldn't have started any better.....we celebrated the boy's first birthday and then we celebrated Ryan's birthday!! The evenings are warm and breezy, and the BBQ is getting put to use....this time of year is my favorite!! This weekend, I'll be shooting a wedding that I've been looking forward to all year...and then I'm off to San Luis for a mini vacation and to visit friends (and hopefully some time at the beach!)
Stay tuned....I've got some fun portrait sessions I'll be sharing over the next few weeks. For now, here's a few snaps of my kids from this past week :)

Isn't this a cute idea? At their wedding reception, Katie and Jeremy setup a photo booth using a Fuji Instax camera and had their guest choose one of several different cards where you had to fill in the blank with something about Love. I took a picture of the message we left for the newlyweds :)

They also had fun props for their guests to use for the pictures.....I just love this idea! I wish I would have thought of it when I was getting married. It can be a great alternative to doing a traditional guest book.
Katie says:
I've got to give the credit to martha stewart weddings for the cute cards-- you can download the template for free from the website:) Now if only I could put that photo book together...;)

A few weeks ago I posted on my facebook page that I was planning a trip to San Luis and then to Orange County (btw, I usually post news and announcements on my fb page before I do here on my blog) and I quickly filled the few spots I had open for shoots.....so tomorrow, we're leaving out of town! It's a huge blessing that my little family and I can take this last little road trip along the California coast before the baby is set to arrive (ps--I'm going to try and make it to the Farmers Market in Slo this Thursday so if any of my friends want to meetup, email me :)
I'll reply to emails the best that I can while I'm gone, so if you don't here from me, I'll be sure to respond on Monday. Wishing my dear blog readers a wonderful week!

It's been too long since I've shared any polaroids on my blog....and my faithful readers know how much I adore polaroids :) Ryan took the picture of me below just this past weekend....I'm 31 weeks. I had just woken up and it was cold.
Ashlee says:
Look at your cute little belly! So precious. I love these polaroids ;)

I love dogwood blossoms-- the pink is such a beautiful shade. Sigh, wish they lasted longer! Have a great trip:) Wish I could come too!

I've decided to add a new monthly feature to the blog where I'll simply share with you a book or a project that I have found useful or fun! I love getting recommendations from others and if anything I share will help or interest one person, then it's worth it (btw, soon I'll be adding back my Friday photo tip features).
So for this month, I'll start by sharing one of my favorite books.
One of my all time favorite books is called, The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman, who was a marriage counselor for more than 30 years. He identifies five different love languages (words of affirmation, quality time, receiving gifts, acts of service, and physical touch) and helps you to discover what you and your spouse/fiance/boyfriend/girlfriend's most dominant love language is...hopefully resulting in better communication. He also wrote a love languages book for KIDS that I really want to read someday soon. So if you're like me and love to learn about relationships (after all, I was a psychology major) then this is a great book to read!
Happy Wednesday!!
