Frequently Asked Questions:

1.) What is a session like? What is your style?

One of the most important things to me is to create artistic pages that reflect the personalities of the people I'm photographing.  Sessions are fun, relaxed and without a lot of strict posing.  I want kids to be themselves and to have fun so that their innocent expressions and honest personalities will shine through.  A typical session usually last anywhere between 1-2 hours and before the session, we'll have a pre-session email or phone consultation to chat about the details of the shoot.

2.)  Where will the session take place?

There are a lot of great places!  The location of the shoot can add a lot of character to the overall feel of the session.  Locations can be anywhere from a big open field, to a downtown urban location...they can even be in the comfort of your own home. And if you're unsure, I'm happy to help out in choosing a location.  For newborns and babies, you also have the option of coming to the Kelli Jane Photography studio located in East Sac near Mckinley Park.   

3.)  What should we wear?

Clothing choices can really add a lot of style and character to the session so please know I am happy to to help and make suggestions.  As a general rule, it's better to keep things simple.  Feel free to browse through my website and blog to get ideas of what other kids and families have worn.  Also, accessories like hats, scarves, boots or a favorite toy are a fun way to add personality to the sessions.  If you go to the links section of my blog, you'll see a few of my favorite places to shop for kids clothes.

4.) When is the best time to schedule a newborn session?

The best possible time to photograph newborns is before they are 14 days old.  It's best to email or call Kelli before the baby is born so she can take note of your due date and keep spaces available.  Also, all newborn session done before the baby is 14 days old will receive a complimentary 8 x 10 print.  The reason for this is that babies photographed before 14 days old sleep well and a lot of the poses I do are best with a sleepy baby.  Also, if babies are going to get baby acne, it usually doesn't happen until after they are 2 weeks old. 

5.)  When will our pictures be ready for viewing?

Once our session is over, you can expect to see between 35-40 custom proofs within 2 weeks.  You can either choose to order online (all orders must be placed within 14 days) or you can choose an in-person ordering session.  The benefit of in-person ordering session is that you can see examples of what your images will look like when printed as well as being able to see the custom albums, canvas' and other products we offer.  Once all orders are placed, it takes between 1-3 weeks to be delivered or shipped.

6.)  What are your rates?

For all newborn, maternity and kids session (covering 1-2 kids) the investment is $150 and includes: 1-2 hour on-location shoot, the time and talent required to proof 35-40 proofs, an online slideshow, and an online viewing and ordering gallery.  Family sessions are $225 and print prices begin at $20 for a 5 x 7.  Please email for more detailed pricing information.  If you're interested in knowing more about custom photography, here is an article to check out: The Consumer Guide for Custom Photography.
