He who loves Ireland

saint patricks day pictures

Given that my name is Kelli Seeley, one would think that I am all Irish....but the truth is, I'm probably about .025% (my maiden name is Elizondo which is Spanish).  Ryan, on the other hand, is all Irish....the boy can't say no to all things Guinness, Irish cream, and corned beef and cabbage (not to mention his very reflective white skin tone).  He certainly does love all things Ireland!!  So while I won't be drinking any green beers this Saint Patty's day, I will be cooking and baking some of our favorite Irish dishes....and maybe, if I'm lucky, I'll find a four leaf clover :)

On shooting from the Heart

I fell in love with the art of photography when I was a little girl because for the first time in my life, I had found something that allowed me to express what I was feeling in my soul and in my heart.  I wanted a concrete way to remember whatever it was I was photographing....forever.  I didn't care who saw my pictures or what anyone thought, all I knew is that I had found a way to create something meaningful.  And then I grew up and the insecurities set in.....the wondering what other people will think, the fear of judgment, and the struggle to be confident.  Don't get me wrong, I am very proud of the body of work I produced this past year...but there is still a lot of growing I have to do...that I want to do.

So as 2009 comes to an end, I've been thinking a lot about the reasons I was first attracted to photography and how I should get back to that childhood state of always shooting from my heart and from my soul....because if you're always shooting from your heart, can you still be disappointed?  I know God has given me a gift for a purpose and I want to use that purpose to do good for others....I'm looking forward to 2010.

I TOTALLY agree with you! When things for myself changed into more and all the "rules" and stuff started to really affect me it showed in my pictures. Loking back, I can tell the ones where I was trying to do it all right. The other day I just shoot what I wanted, what I liked, from my heart and THOSE are the images that are my favorites.
